Our school has the best view in the country: the magnificent Hottentots Holland Mountains on the one side, and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and False Bay on the other.
De Hoop was named after the farm on which it stands. This farm was part of the historic farm, Parel Vallei, which belonged to WA van der Stel.
De Hoop Primary first opened its doors in 1970 with 320 learners and 12 teachers, which included a music teacher.
Since then there have been three principals: Mr PH Boshoff, Mr P Combrinck and our present principal, Mr Wynand Cillié.
Our School Crest and Motto
The ship on the badge is a symbol of the discovery of new horizons, while the stars point to ideals that can be reached through faith.
The motto, Constantia et Perseverantia, means to keep on trying until you get something right. This reminds us of the hard work and perseverance which enabled pioneers to reach their goals.
We have an excellent after school service where full time staff supervise homework and relaxation for children whose parents work full day.
Our clothing shop inside the school building makes it so easy to get hold of the necessary school uniform and sportswear, while our tuck shop always has something tasty for those of us who have left our lunch boxes at home!
JOIN OUR SCHOOL!
De Hoop Primary School is definitely a place where we can all reach our full potential in a loving, supportive and Christian atmosphere.
And remember: whether you are young or old, big or small,
De Hoop has a place in its heart FOR YOU!!
